Hiwa Aminnejad
was born in 1973 in Baneh, Kurdistan Province of Iran from a Kurdish middle
class family. He obtained a degree in film direction at the Association
of Cinema for Youth in Tabriz.
Being kurdish and iranian, he is interested in the everyday life
of the iranians kurds in the region where they live and where they face the contradictions
of the traditions, the effects of the wars and the peculiarities
of their situation as one ethnic group spread in several countries.
He is part of a group of iranian directors contributing to
the growth of the cinema inspired by kurdish traditions, landscapes and subjects.
His short films were presented in several festivals and obtained many
awards. "Atesh e Kebrit" won the Best Picture award at "Esfahan
International Film Festival for Youth". " "Hennabadan e dictator"(2005)
and "Four Prayers for Kirkuk"(2007) were shot in Iraqi Kurdistan
and selected for the
London
Kurdish films festivals. They examines the aftermath of the
fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in Kurdistan Iraq.
